A Woodland Christmas

Hello Everyone! Are you all decorated for Christmas? I have finally finished up with the exception that I always find a little something to redo. It’s always a work in progress, isn’t it?

Today I wanted to share my Christmas decor in my living room. If you’ve followed along for any length of time you may heard me mention that I have a hard time deciding between using traditional colors and more neutral colors. I’ve pretty much decided that depending on the room will depend on the colors.

In our living room I’ve decided to use non traditional colors. I’ve chosen to keep it pretty neutral with a touch of glam. I love using greenery all over with a touch of sparkle.

On the mantel I strung garland with a mix of metallic ornaments and a coppery ribbon.

I layered vintage mirrors and used chunky diy candlesticks made from recycled table legs and rusty barbell weights on either end of the mantel.

The middle of the mantel holds the top from a pillar with vintage brass deer on them.

I found them at a yard sale this past summer and fell in love with them. I used real deer antlers on either side that I spent a lot of time hunting for (at yard sales…that’s the only hunting that I do!)

Our Christmas tree turned out quite nice this year too.

Funny story…every year it has been tradition to get together with my three boys and their girls and my parents to decorate our tree. For as long as I could remember, we would string it with colored lights and the boys would hang the quirky ornaments that they had received over the years representing something that was special in their lives that year. Our tree also included all the handmade ornaments from years past. Our tree was never really an Instagram worthy tree nor did it ever match the rest of the decor in the room but it was sentimental. This year I had thought of changing that and one of my boys said that he thought I would regret it if I did…and do you know what? He was right! We did change to clear lights but only because several of the colored strands decided to call it quits this year. The tree is still decked out in the quirky ornaments but honesty…I don’t mind it one bit. The tradition of getting together and listening to the laughter as the ornaments get hung make my heart explode!

I love sitting in this room when the lights are lit. The soft glow is so cozy and warm.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my little tour of our woodland Christmas. Next I’ll show you our Christmas with a more traditional flair.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by! It means the world to me!
