Catching Up and Family

Well hello there strangers…It’s been quite some time since I’ve jumped on here. We have so much catching up to do. I kind of had a feeling that the month of May would get away from me and it did in regards to keeping up with blog posts. I would love to say that I have been sitting on a beach somewhere drinking pina coladas but that is definitely not the case.

I have however been spending every week working my butt off and partying every weekend! Sounds like a good life, right? We’ve been working really hard on different projects around the house and I couldn’t be happier with all that we have accomplished so far. I actually had to look back at all that we had done to remind myself of just how much we accomplished. I have a really bad habit of adding two more things to my to-do list when I check off one so it seems like we’re never getting ahead. I will definitely share what we did in upcoming posts.

We have been celebrating birthdays (4 in all) every single weekend in the month of May with the exception of one weekend in which we hosted a baby shower for my daughter in law. You guys…we are less than a month away before my little grandson makes his appearance!!! I am beyond giddy! This is also part of the reason that we have been so busy. There’s been so much that I wanted to get done before his arrival. I have more to share on him later but for now, I am so excited that we are growing our family.

And speaking of family, this brings me to a little project that I have been working on. I love having family photos displayed in our home. I love the reminder of where you came from and how far you’ve come.

I had family photos displayed going up our staircase for many years. I had used black frames in an assortment of sizes but once we finally painted the staircase (after years of putting it off) I decided to go with a softer look for our family gallery.

I had been collecting vintage gold frames for sometime in preparation for this and still have a long way to go since I usually get them from thrift stores and yard sales. And since our family is growing, I will have many more photos to hang.

Of course now that I have come this far on the project, I have decided that I would like to paint the spindles on our staircase. (This is where the “check one project off and add two more” comes in.) All in good time.

What do you think? Do you have family photos hanging in your home?

Thank you so much for stopping by! You guys are the best!

I think the golden frames look awesome with your family photos, Diane! Are they all black and white photos? They definitely give off that vintage feeling.

Thank you so much Laura! Yes, they are black and white photos. Some of the pictures were old black and whites and the newer pictures were printed to look older. I’m glad you like them! I’ll have so many more to hang!😂

I do love hanging fam photos but my brats don’t let me take good photos. Love your home. I’ll be waiting to see how you paint those spindles too! Best wishes.

Haha! Taking photos of my family is a joke…only one out of every 20 get approval. My boys make a sport out of screwing up my pictures! Lol If you have any tips on painting spindles, I would love to hear them. I would love to spray them but don’t want to do that in the house.😬
