It’s Happening!!!

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far. I have been pretty productive if say so myself. Summer is slowly winding down and fall is right around the corner. If you don’t believe me, step foot inside of the stores and you’ll feel differently. This time of year makes me a little giddy. The kids are going back to school and the stores are transitioning into cozy havens. Fall is my favorite time of year but right before the season kicks into action I feel the need to do a spring cleaning of sorts (only at the end of summer.) I have cleaned out a few closets and organized some spaces but the thing that has me jumping for joy is that I finally cracked open that paint bucket! It’s finally happening!!!

I purchased my paint when it was on sale and then life got in the way so it sat for quite some time. To be honest, I was starting to worry whether  or not I would still like the color. I have a bit of a track record for not liking a paint color after a while. I’m starting with painting our hallway and I’m happy to say that I love the color!!! I painted it just a couple of years ago but the color I chose was a bit of a rushed decision.

This is the before color.

My oldest son was getting married and the wedding was being held on our family’s property. I knew our house would see a lot of traffic and our walls were in desperate need of a refreshing. I know I should have put more thought into it but I thought I was on the right track at the time…only I was wrong. Not long after I painted the walls, I realized the walls were a bit too dark. The color wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t right. Certain times of the day, I really didn’t mind the color but other times of the day it gave off a weird peach color.

I was not loving it. So after much thought, I carefully chose yet another color. I chose Revere Pewter by Sherwin Williams only had it lightened 50 percent more.

This is the color ratio for the 5 gallon bucket.

It is such a beautiful warm gray and since I had it lightened a bit more, it’s not too dark.

You can see how much lighter the paint color is in comparison to the old color. (Also, you can see the messy office behind door number two. Real life folks. Painting trumped cleaning.)

It really brightens up the space but the color is dark enough to have a bit of contrast with the trim which I love.

Sorry for the pictures being a little dark. It’s really hard to get a good picture when there is light coming from both ends.

(And did you notice the lack of decorations? Well, that’s because I’m contemplating hauling this dresser outside and giving it a little face lift as well. We’ll see how that goes.)

Gorgeous!!! I’m inspired to keep going now. I still need to paint the stairwell and the upstairs hallway. That is going to require some help from My Guy as he is not terrified of heights and wouldn’t be clinging to a ladder while having the fire department on the phone to get help get him down from the ladder like someone else I know.  We’ll see how far I get before I pull out my fall decor and start to cozy up this place.

How many times have you painted one room? Certainly I’m not the only nutty one out there…or am I?
