Linen and Twigs

Did you ever just buy something because you just knew that you could make something out of it? I tend to do that quite a bit. I think I like the challenge of creating something out of parts and pieces. I found this iron piece that I believe was the bottom to a sled at a yard sale. I hung onto it for quite sometime and finally decided that it was time to make something out of it…a sled. lol

I also had some old pallet wood lying around and needed to use it up. I cut three pieces of pallet boards and two smaller boards to use as braces.

I used the two smaller boards to hold the three larger boards together.

Then I attached the iron base to the brace boards.

I sanded the edges of the boards to give it a worn look.

I brushed off the sawdust and gave it a good coat of Minwax Polycrylic Finish.

I coated the wood and the iron. It almost has a purplish color when you first apply it but that goes away once it dries.

That’s it! Now time to decorate!!!

The possibilities are endless! This just might be the start of my Christmas decorating!
