Good Morning Spring

Hello Friends! Are you enjoying spring yet? Has the weather cooperated in your neck of the woods? It’s finally getting warmer here and things are starting to wake up after a long winter’s nap.

(Cherry blossoms outside of our kitchen window.)

Of course that means that our state is filled with a “yellow fog”. (Pollen) It takes over our entire state this time of year covering everything in a yellow powder…cars, porches, furniture…you name it, nothing is safe. I don’t mind it so much since one good rain washes it away and it’s just a sign that everything is about to wake up.

(Climbing roses on our front porch rail.)

(Miss Kim Lilac bush)

Moving south from Illinois, this was one plant that I really missed since they usually don’t grow in warmer climates but the Miss Kim variety is made for southern temperatures.

(Blueberry bush blossoms)

(Mandevilla)

This was a plant given to me by my Dad. He has recently taken up a new hobby in starting new plants. He is doing an amazing job so of course it meant the world to me when this guy came back after a long winter.

(Lady Banks Rose)

(Birch Tree)

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a post about the three birch trees that my three boys and daughter in law gave me. I had wanted a birch tree forever and they gave me three!  I had spent the entire summer watering and talking to these guys…okay, maybe threatening them not to die!!! Needless to say, I was one happy girl when they leafed out this spring!

(Stella D’oro Lily)

(Camellia)

Funny story…our dog, Diesel, picks the blooms off of the bottom of the tree and leaves them on our back porch step…He’s such a romantic. haha

(Succulents)

These are great if you live in a hot state and have a hard time keeping things watered. These come back every spring. I love the pop of color.

(Phlox)

There are still dry branches and leaves that need to be cut away and mulch that needs to be put down but if you look close enough, you can see all the beauty that’s just waiting to say hello.

I hope you all are enjoying your spring so far!

Love you all,
