Hello Pumpkin

Hi Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! Now that we are heading into the Thanksgiving season it’s just a matter of time before that carefully carved jack o lantern will see it’s better day. This is just a friendly little reminder to save your pumpkin stems! No, I haven’t started another crazy collection. This is just in preparation for next year.

Do you know all of those cute faux pumpkins that you have? You could make them look more realistic with a quick little update. Generally, the fake pumpkins look pretty real. It’s usually the stem that gives them the fake look.

Most of the faux pumpkins are made of some sort of styrofoam. It’s as easy as pulling out the fake stem and hot gluing a real one in it’s place.

Now of course you’ll want to dry out the real stems. That’s where this post is your little reminder to save this years pumpkin stems for next year’s pumpkins. You could either cut away the pumpkin flesh from the stem or just leave it to rot and the stem will pull away from the flesh. Once you have removed the stem, just leave it in a dry place to air dry.

After your stem has dried, just pull out the fake stem from your faux pumpkin and hot glue the real one on top. If the stem doesn’t fit quite to the top of the pumpkin, you can fill the gaps with some moss found at your local craft store.

That’s all there is to it! I think it makes a big difference in how the pumpkins look and the fact that all the stems are different makes it even more real. Using stems from gourds also works great for smaller pumpkins.

Thanks for stopping by friends! You’re the best!
