Hello Winter…

Hello Everyone. How’s your winter going so far? The weather here has been crazy! Freezing cold one week and flip flop weather the next. It’s putting me in the mood for some spring decorating but I know the minute I pull out some flowers, we’ll get hit with some snow or ice.

Decorating after the holidays can be a bit challenging. The house is so festive and cozy during the holiday season and then once the holidays are over, the house almost seems a bit empty. Since the weather is still so cold, we crave the coziness and warmth. Here’s a few tips on how to create that look during the transition from Christmas to winter decor.

Just like the clothes you wear, add layers to keep warm. Soft throws draped across a chair or hanging from a ladder add warmth to a room and are handy to wrap up in on a chilly night.

Layering rugs under your feet are also a good idea.

Add lots of pillows for softness and lounging while snuggling in for the night to watch movies.

This is the time of year that I start to dream about gardening. Adding plants to a room gives a bit of freshness and life to a room.

Adding texture in your decor makes a room feel cozy. Baskets, wood and nubby fabrics are just a few ways to add texture.

Even adding some logs next to your fireplace will make you feel warm and toasty.

Lastly, don’t forget to appeal to all of your senses. Fill your home with your favorite cozy scent.

The soft glow of candles instantly adds warmth and makes your home smell yummy.

I hope this helps to add some warmth and coziness to your home and to get you through the winter chill.

Spring will be here before you know it. Until then, stay warm and snuggly!
