Let’s Diffuse This Shall We?

It’s the start of a new year and you want a fresh start, right? Everyone is organizing stuff and cleaning things out. The donation pile and garbage pile are starting to resemble a small mountain. You’re starting to feel good. You’re home is feeling fresh…but does it smell fresh?

Let me start out by saying that I’m a huge candle junkie! Not only do I think that a home should look and feel inviting but it should also smell inviting. Believe it or not, the smell of your home is just as important as how it looks. I love the look of a flickering candle in a room and I’ve been known to spend (way) too much money on candles. As a matter of fact, I have probably kept Home Goods in business just by my candle purchases. However, I have found a new love…my diffuser.

I purchased my diffuser about six months ago and wanted to test it out before sharing it with you. I’m not being sponsored by this company nor am I promoting this diffuser over others. I’m just ecstatic that I decided to give it a whirl. If you don’t know what a diffuser is, it’s a nifty little thing that you fill with water and your choice of essential oils and it emits the fragrance into the air using ultrasonic waves…it’s magic!

You can see the fine mist from the top.

I know that diffusers have been around for quite sometime but I was never a huge fan of their appearance or how it went with my decor but then I found this wood grained looking one. I could work with that!

Different diffusers have different features but one of the features that I loved about this one is that it runs for four hours continuously or eight hours intermittently with an automatic shut off. It will also automatically shut off if it runs out of water. Unlike candles where you’re halfway down the road and have a panic attack trying to remember if you blew the candle out. I should also mention that when it’s turned on, it lights up giving a soft glow.

The thing I love most about it though is that you can play around with scents. For fall, I loved mixing cinnamon oil and cedar wood oil together. It smelled woodsy and warm. Around the holidays, I mixed cinnamon oil, clove oil and orange oil together to give our home a delicious and cozy scent of holiday baking. To make our home smell fresh and clean, I added some lemon grass oil and lavender oil together. The possibilities are endless and you can purchase essential oils almost anywhere. I also love that the scents are more pure and natural smelling as opposed to some candles that are artificial or perfume-y smelling. Pinterest is loaded with a lot of yummy scent combinations as well.

Well, that’s all I have right now. I love sharing things with you that I have tried and liked. I hope it helps some of you who were on the fence about trying them. I highly recommend it. As a matter of fact, I’m thinking of purchasing another one for the other side of my house.

Also, if you use a diffuser and have some favorite scent combinations, let me know! I would love to give them a try!

Here’s to a wonderful smelling new year!
