There’s No Action In The Bedroom

Hey Guys! I hope your week is going well. The weather here has been absolutely wonderful. The fall chill has finally set in and it makes me want to cozy up around here. I’m not just talking about cozying up my living space. I’m wanting to get cozy in the bedroom. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any action in the bedroom for quite sometime now. Like not even a little. It was all exciting when we first moved in. I had so many ideas that I wanted to try but after time things just slowed down and before you know it, there was nothing…nothing at all. Okay, you do know that I’m talking about decorating, right? Sheesh people…

Our bedroom has always been the last place that I decorate. I’m not even sure why since we spend a fair amount of our day night in there. I mean sure, most of it is with our eyes closed but still, it’s an important room. So, I decided to shake things up a bit in the bedroom.

I want to eventually paint the walls a different color but since I haven’t finished painting the hallways that I started, I decided I would start with the furniture. I’ve been wanting some new night stands in our room for quite some time but I haven’t found anything that I truly loved. I decided that I would use some furniture that I already had but some of it needed some freshening up.

I had this little cabinet in my hallway that I loved the finish on.

It seemed like a good size to go next to our bed. The problem was that I needed another cabinet to go on the other side of the bed. I didn’t care if they matched or not but I did want them to coordinate.

I found this little cabinet on Buy, Sell, Trade on Facebook and had intentions of selling it in my shop but the size was perfect for the bedroom. Yes, sometimes size does matter in the bedroom.

The only problem was that the color of the cabinet wasn’t right. I love oak furniture but I’m not a fan of how orange it is sometimes. I contemplated stripping it down and painting it but I really like the look of natural wood.

I found something called Liming Wax while on Pinterest and I really liked the look of it.  There were a couple of brands to choose from but I found the Amy Howard Liming Wax at a local hardware store so I thought I would give it a go.

It was so easy!!! It’s a paste wax in a tin. All you do is brush it on, wait about an hour and buff it with a clean cloth. That’s it!!!

You can see the right door has the wax on it and the left one does not. This picture was taken before it was buffed.

It ends up with a slight sheen and a beautiful weathered look. It completely toned down the orange color on the cabinet too.

I really liked the way it turned out. It has a very relaxed look which is absolutely perfect for a bedroom. I’m pretty sure that I’m going to use it on a few more pieces that I have. I’ll let you know.

This is not a sponsored post by the way. This is just me shaking things up in the bedroom.

Have a great week Friends!
