Choosing the Perfect Decor

Hey Friends! How have you been? Things have been fine on my end. I have to admit, I’m a little over summer and ready to break into fall. This is the time of the year when I feel like everything is starting to look a little shabby. The garden has seen it’s better days and starting to come to an end. I feel like I want to start to cleaning out things and getting rid of stuff. I guess I’m a little backwards since most people do this in the spring but I kind of like doing it in the fall too. It’s a great way to edit your decor and keep what pulls at your heartstrings.

In doing so, I’ve been trying really hard to let go of things that are just ho hum and keep things that are special.. One thing that I’ve noticed is that when I look for decor, I tend to gravitate towards things that are unique in their own way. I kind of like my decor like I like my people…old and chippy…I’m kidding…one of a kind.

I have raised three boys into some amazing young men. The kind that are now my best friends. I’m not taking credit for the way they have turned out but I find it so interesting that they were raised in the same household by the same parents and they have all turned out so different and yet so special. They are each so wonderful and unique in their own ways and yet get along so well together. Even the girls that they are dating or married to are different from each other and yet get along so well. That makes for a family with a lot of heart.

I feel ones decor should be the same way. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a Hobby Lobby as much as the next guy but there’s just something so wonderful about decor that has some heart to it. I love pieces that have been around for some time and have a story to tell…kind of like parents and grandparents.

I also don’t feel like one should have to stick to a style. Just like the people in your life, they don’t have to be just alike but it’s nice if they play well together. The decor that you surround yourself with should make you feel just as good as the people you surround yourself with. So it’s really not a matter of how many decorations/friends that you have as much as it is how special each and every one is.

I recently found this wooden basket and I adore it! It’s definitely not perfect but it’s perfect to me.

The craftsmanship that was put into it is amazing. I can’t imagine the amount of patience that was put into creating all the fine details on it.

You can tell by the patchwork repair that it probably has some stories to tell and has been around for quite some time.

It’s missing some parts and some parts have been added which just shows how much it has been cared for over the years.

I’m glad I got it. I have to admit, I almost passed it by since I tend to tell myself that I don’t need anything new but I plan to do my part to carry on the story of this guy.
