Hello Pumpkin

Hey Friends! Have you pulled out your sweaters and traded in your flip-flops for fuzzy socks yet? Fall has officially arrived and I couldn’t be more excited! This is my absolute favorite time of the year. I have to admit, I’m still wearing flip-flops over here since it still feels like summer however it’s all flannel and bonfires in my mind.

I have pulled out my cozy throws and pillows and swapped out my seashells for pumpkins. I have been crushing on gray and white pumpkins this year and wanted to add some to my collection. I purchased a few larger pumpkins earlier but I didn’t want to sink a lot of money into my fall decor. I prefer to collect pieces over time. I had a collection of smaller pumpkins and gourds that I had bought from a thrift store last year and thought I would give them a face lift.

I used Rustoleum spray paint in Heirloom White and Granite to coat each of the pumpkins.

I sprayed the bottoms first and let them dry. Once dried, I flipped them over and sprayed the other side.

I allowed the pumpkins to dry overnight before adding a wash to them. I used white craft paint mixed with a bit of water on the gray pumpkins and mixed some black and white craft paint to make gray and added some water to that as well to use on the white pumpkins.

I simply painted it on and immediately wiped it off letting the wash settle into the grooves of the pumpkin.

I mixed some of the gray paint with a bit of brown and brushed it on the stems of the pumpkins to give it a more realistic look.

I have to say, I’m quite pleased with the way they turned out.

I’m even happier that it was all created with things I already had.

I think I might try it on some bigger pumpkins and use some other colors as well. I’ll let you know how that turns out if I get around to doing it.

Thanks for stopping by and seeing what I’ve been up to. If you have any tips or tricks to fall up your home, let me know by leaving a comment below. I would love to get some new ideas!
